CM Vijay to launch 1-gram gold ring scheme for newborns ahead of October 6 bypolls
- Vijay will launch a scheme on September 28 to gift one-gram gold rings to newborns delivered in government hospital.
- Babies born in government hospitals from June 22 onward will qualify, with rings distributed retrospectively to fam
- The scheme cannot be launched in Madurantakam and Dharapuram, where October 6 bye-elections are being held.
- Tamil Nadu has allocated Rs 755 crore; 1.28 lakh rings have been procured, with distribution planned through 10
