Karnataka unveils 5-year plan to build greener data centre infrastructure
- Karnataka approved its Sustainable Data Centre Policy 2026–31, a five-year plan for greener digital infrastructure.
- The policy has a ₹1,300.45 crore budget and targets 1 GW of cumulative data centre IT load by 2031.
- It aims for Karnataka to host 10–12% of India’s AI-ready data centre capacity while cutting water and energy use.
- The plan will push data centres beyond Bengaluru, with new zones, parks, R&D, skilling and investor incentives.
