Mamata Banerjee's Nandigram candidate withdraws a day before the nomination deadline
- Sanchita Pradhan Dey was the Mamata Banerjee faction's candidate for the Nandigram bypoll, and has now withdrawn.
- She did so on Friday, a day before nominations close, leaving the faction without a candidate in the seat.
- It follows the Election Commission freezing the Trinamool name and symbol, with both factions told to pick new ones.
- Pradhan Dey met Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at Nabanna shortly before she announced the decision.
