Faith leaders say they were misled into attending Bhagwat-linked event in New York
- Three New York faith leaders say they were misled about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s role in a Madison Square Garden event.
- Rev Adriene Thorne says organisers presented it as an interfaith gathering focused on peace and cooperation without revealing Bhagwat’s involvement.
- Thorne, Winnie Varghese and Imam Shamsi Ali expressed regret over attending, saying they would not have participated had they known the event’s connection to Bhagwat and the RSS.
- The faith leaders said their participation could have created the impression of endorsing the RSS or its ideology and stressed their commitment to pluralism and interfaith work.
