FSSAI bans Everest and Laljee Godhoo from selling compounded hing over quality violations
- Food Safety & Standards Authority of India prohibited the sale of compounded asafoetida from Everest.
- Laboratory tests found Everest's asafoetida samples had alcohol soluble extract at 0%, below the prescribed minimum limit.
- Six varieties of raw asafoetida from Laljee Godhoo contained starch levels between 15% & 32%.
- FSSAI ordered both companies to submit action plans for compliance & advised them to recall sub-standard products.
