GST 2.0: Process reforms set for April 1, 2027 launch as tax system gets an overhaul

All GST process reforms approved by the 57th GST Council will take effect from April 1 2027.
The reforms cover GST registration refunds compliance and enforcement measures aimed at helping businesses.
Refund acknowledgement time will be reduced to 10 days with 90% refunds issued within three working days.
The Council recommended removing GST arrest powers and approved simplified registration for small e-commerce sellers.
