- Rajendra Dawadi, principal of Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in Nepal, saved 1,643 children during the flash floods in Trishuli Valley.
- Dawadi received a warning at around 9:20 am that floodwaters were rising rapidly and immediately ordered the school’s evacuation.
- He rang the school bell, moved children out of classrooms and asked school buses to turn back as the danger grew.
- The children reached higher ground and took shelter under a bodhi tree, while the school buildings were swept away by the floods.
