IIT Bombay replaces hostel ceiling fans with wall-mounted ones after Sahil Wakode's death
- IIT Bombay has begun replacing hostel ceiling fans with wall-mounted ones after student Sahil Wakode's death.
- Officials said the move is part of planned hostel renovation, unrelated to the recent student deaths.
- NCP SP's Anish Gawande questioned the move, saying it wouldn't fix the institute's broken system.
- Government data shows 39 IIT students died by suicide between 2018 and 2023, prompting institutional scrutiny.
