Justice RC Chavan quits Maharashtra UCC committee over public feedback
- Retired Bombay HC judge Justice RC Chavan resigned from Maharashtra's Uniform Civil Code UCC committee on 19 September.
- He cited disagreements over the public feedback questionnaire and a non-member's alleged presence at the meeting.
- The seven-member panel, led by Justice Ranjana Desai, was formed in July to draft UCC implementation rules.
- Chavan said he was unsure of the non-member's role and resigned to let the government fill the vacant seat.
