India unveils ₹1.27 lakh crore Semicon 2.0 scheme to boost chip ecosystem
- The Centre has notified Semicon 2.0 with a ₹1.27 lakh crore outlay to strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
- The six-part scheme covers chip design, semiconductor fabs, equipment, assembly, packaging and testing.
- The government expects the scheme to attract around ₹4 lakh crore in investments and enable ₹2 lakh crore in semiconductor production.
- It will also support indigenous chip IP, SoCs and modules for strategic sectors, aiming to reduce reliance on imported technology.
