Indian Army conducts helicopter drill on Rajasthan highway near Pakistan border
- The Indian Army used a stretch of National Highway 911 near Dantour, Rajasthan, as a temporary runway.
- Rudra, Dhruv and Chetak helicopters practised landing and taking off from the highway instead of a regular airfield.
- The drill tested how helicopters can operate if an airbase, airfield or helipad becomes unavailable during an emergency.
- The exercise was held near the Pakistan border and coincided with the 10th anniversary of India’s 2016 surgical strikes on September 29.
