Iran tightens restrictions around Hormuz, says Strait will stay closed until US honours deal
- Iran says it will declare a restricted zone outside the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days.
- It would run from the US naval blockade line into the Persian Gulf, and ships entering without permission face sanctions.
- Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei disputed Trump’s claim that the Strait is open, saying only seven or eight ships are currently passing through.
- Iran says it will keep the Strait closed until Washington honours the peace memorandum signed in June.
