July air traffic slips as major Indian airlines carry fewer flyers
- India’s domestic air passenger traffic fell 4.8% year-on-year to 1.2 crore in July 2026, from 1.26 crore a year earlier.
- Despite July’s fall, airlines carried 9.84 crore passengers from January to July, up 0.64% from the same period in 2025.
- IndiGo carried 80.8 lakh passengers in July and increased its market share to 67.4%, while Air India Group held 24%.
- IndiGo also led on-time performance at 91.2%, followed by Akasa Air at 90.8% and Air India Group at 88.5%.
