Meta launches open-weight AI model to rival Chinese developers
- Meta on Thursday launched open-weight Muse Spark Open, saying it rivals top Chinese models like Qwen and Kimi K3.
- Chief AI officer Alexandr Wang called it the most capable US open-weight model yet, built for coding and agentic work.
- The model is tuned for Apple’s M5 Ultra chips, and two Mac Studios can run it as a desktop supercomputer.
- The launch came days after Meta unveiled its closed Wonder and Wonder Full models on Monday.
