Muslim vice-principal alleges forced resignation; ABVP students perform ‘purification’ ritual
- Mohammadi Tarannum, vice-principal of Kolkata’s Surendranath College, signed a resignation letter after students allegedly gheraoed her office for 23 hours.
- Tarannum said students drafted the letter and pressured her to sign it; a student involved in the protest denied the allegation.
- After she left under police protection, students led by ABVP entered her office, lit incense and sprinkled Ganga water, calling it a “purification”.
- The dispute began over attendance rules requiring law students to have 65% attendance to sit their September 29 semester exams.
