Nepal flood death toll rises to 788, with over 2,500 still missing
- Six days after the flood came down from the Tibet border, Nepal's toll has reached 788 with more than 2,500 missing.
- Chitwan has lost the most at 264, then Nawalparasi East and West, so the damage now runs far beyond the border districts.
- India says 149 of its nationals have been rescued, while over 275 Indians and 128 people of Indian origin remain missing.
- It has now sent tunnel rescue and forensic teams, with many bodies too damaged to identify without DNA testing.
