Tamil Nadu extends maternity leave to third child
- Tamil Nadu will increase paid maternity leave for women state employees having a third child from 12 weeks to one year.
- HRM Minister D Sarathkumar announced the change in the state Assembly during the demand for grants to his department on August 18.
- Women government employees with fewer than two surviving children already receive 365 days of paid maternity leave.
- A detailed government order implementing the expanded third-child maternity benefit is expected to be issued soon.
