Was a secret tunnel really found at Golconda Fort?
- Reports of a secret tunnel began after ground-clearing work by the Indian Army’s Artillery Centre behind Golconda Fort exposed a buried structure.
- Archaeological Survey of India inspectors found a granite chamber about 1.2m by 1.8m and 2.2m deep, with no evidence of a tunnel.
- The team also found a few red-coloured potsherds, which appear to belong to the medieval period, while the preliminary investigation has made it clear that the structure is not a tunnel but a small chamber.
