Women’s participation rises sharply as India’s higher education sector expands

- The number of colleges increased from 36,634 to 48,246 during the same period.
- Higher education enrolment crossed 4.5 crore in FY24, with men and women nearly equally represented.
- Women outnumbered men in undergraduate science, while female PhD participation was nearly equal to men.
