Centre brings onions down to ₹35/kg in Delhi amid price surge
- The Centre will sell onions at a subsidised ₹35 per kg in Delhi from Thursday to curb rising prices.
- The all-India average retail price rose 28% to ₹44.72/kg on August 25, from ₹34.80 a month earlier.
- Onions are selling for around ₹55/kg in Delhi, while prices have reached ₹60/kg in Chennai and Kolkata.
- The onions will come from the Centre’s 1.21 lakh-tonne buffer stock, with supplies moved from Nashik to Delhi through the Kanda Express.
