Union IT Minister launches Substack to explain India’s semiconductor push
- Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has launched a Substack newsletter to share his views on technology, policy and India’s economic growth.
- His first post focuses on India’s semiconductor push, covering chip design, manufacturing, assembly, testing and packaging.
- Vaishnaw said 12 semiconductor units involving $20 billion in investment have been approved, with three already in commercial production.
- He said the government aims to move from 40-nanometre chips towards 7–3 nanometre technology and train 1 lakh chip-design engineers.
