‘Do you feel you are a lord?’ Bombay HC raps Maharashtra FDA chief
- The Bombay High Court criticised Maharashtra’s FDA over its handling of five eateries at the Mumbai Cricket Association premises.
- The court questioned FDA chief Tukaram Mundhe’s approach after the regulator kept the eateries’ licences suspended despite a fresh inspection finding them 88% compliant with food-safety rules.
- The judges said the FDA had not followed the court’s earlier direction to take a practical approach and warned of contempt action.
- The court asked Mundhe, “Do you feel you are a lord?” while questioning the FDA’s handling of the matter.
