India plans homegrown 350 kmph bullet trains by 2030 to match Japan’s E10
- India plans to develop indigenous bullet trains with a design speed of 350 kmph by 2030, called B35.
- The trains are being developed to match Japan’s next-generation E10 Shinkansen, also scheduled for production in 2030.
- The 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor is targeted for completion by December 2030.
- The corridor will initially use B28 trains designed for 280 kmph, with BEML contracted to build 47 trains and two prototypes due for trials in early 2027.
