- Social media creators earning from YouTube, Instagram and affiliate links must file income tax returns by August 31.
- All creator earnings are treated as business income, with creators filing ITR-3 or ITR-4 based on income structure.
- Creators must comply with GST above Rs 20 lakh turnover and TDS rules, with free products from brands also taxable.
- YouTube is changing view counts from August 24 but engaged views will remain the metric for creator payouts and eligibility.
